About Us

Seacoast Children’s Dentistry was built with your child in mind! We believe every child and patient with special needs DESERVES to have a healthy, positive experience at the dentist. With fun, interactive games, movies playing in the operatories, soothing colors and a “submarine” theme throughout the office, your children may not want to leave!

Dr. Adam’s professional motto is this: “Treat every child as if they were my own.” He has years of experience in making each visit relaxing and informative. He knows your child is unique and will always strive to make every experience fun and memorable. Our mission also includes providing the educational tools necessary for your child to enjoy a healthy, cavity-free future. We like to feel that you and your child don’t just come to our office to “fix” cavities, but rather to prevent them.

Early Childhood Dental Care

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics both recommend your child see the dentist when their first tooth appears or their first birthday (whichever comes first). This introduces your child to their new dental home and allows for the beginning of a lifelong relationship between the dentist, your child and you, the parent. It also allows Dr. Adam to monitor growth and development and catch problems while they are still small and easy to treat. Dr. Adam will happily take any patient, from birth through college. He also specializes in dental care for those with special needs and is happy to see these patients at any age.

First Visit

When you arrive early for your first visit to our pediatric dental practice, you and your child will be greeted warmly. If you do have dental insurance, bring the information with you and our staff will help with filing electronic claims. We may also need you to fill out forms that help you get acquainted with our office.

Your initial visit to Seacoast Children’s Dentistry will introduce you to your child’s new dental home. This is where a lifelong relationship begins. This initial time spent with your child will include, but not be limited to, dental homecare instruction, nutritional counseling, growth and development evaluation, orthodontic evaluation, as well as a comprehensive pediatric dental exam that will outline any dental concerns.

Patients With Special Needs

Balancing the requirements of a child with special needs is very challenging. Our office and staff understand the demands of special-needs care and we welcome these patients and their families. Dr. Adam is trained to accommodate the requirements of those patients and invites you to visit the office to see for yourself!

Fillings / Restorations

It is very important to maintain the health of “baby teeth.” Neglected cavities can, and frequently do, lead to problems which affect developing permanent teeth. Primary teeth (baby teeth) are important for chewing, speech, providing space for the permanent teeth and permitting normal development of the jaw bones and muscles. Dr. Adam typically uses a very conservative approach when addressing decay on baby teeth, but is happy to explain when a cavity becomes large enough that we need to fix it.

If your child needs a filing, DON’T PANIC!! Dr. Adam’s recommendation for how to prepare for a restorative appointment is this: When preparing your child, less is more. Allow us to explain everything once you arrive. Sometimes even the most well-intentioned explanations can leave a child feeling confused and with many more questions! Dr. Adam explains these procedures thousands of times every year and knows how to handle ALL the questions. The best response to questions at home is…. “I’m not sure. Let’s ask the dentist when we get there!”

Dental Radiographs

Radiographs (X-Rays) are a necessary part of your child’s dental diagnostic process. Radiographs allow Dr. Adam to diagnose and treat conditions in bone and cavities between teeth that may not be detected during a clinical examination. They are also important in situations where there has been trauma to the teeth and/or bone and in planning orthodontic treatment. At Seacoast Children’s Dentistry, we use the latest advances in dental technology including digital radiography, which reduces radiation exposure by up to 90%. We also use paperless technology software that allows us to receive x-ray films via email from a referring dentist, minimizing the need for re-exposure. If you have questions about radiographs, please ask Dr. Adam. He is happy to discuss your child’s specific needs as they relate to dental radiographs.
